Because we hear terms like “ancient wisdom” and “wisdom of the ancients”, many believe that wisdom is something that is decidedly old, passed down the ages, static or complete.
It is true that collectively, as the human race, we have largely lost our way, and in a sense strayed from wisdom. This is clear to see when we look at the levels of inequality, poverty, depression, violence and war in our modern society. But wisdom is far from dead. Wisdom is alive ..and growing!
Everything is evolving – our world, our technology, our understanding, our experience, our relationships, and our consciousness. And as our experience grows, so does our ability to respond to life.
When we respond consciously and effectively to life, this is wisdom. Wisdom is not just knowledge and not just philosophy. Wisdom is a deep understanding and relationship with people, events and situations, characterised by peace, harmony, enlightened living and an optimum experience for all. As life expands, so does our wisdom. (Granted, sometimes is seems like our wisdom is diminishing – we do lose our way every so often, but only to find a more enlightened way in the end.)
My own journey has progressed from a somewhat excessive focus on philosophy to the realisation that wisdom is where it is at! I’ve also come to see that each of us has deep wisdom and this can come forth when we engage each other about life, current dilemmas and the eternal questions of life.
To provide this opportunity for engagement, I brainstormed with a friend and created “Home of Wisdom”. It is a space for all of us to ask questions, discuss life, share insights and deepen our wisdom.
Please like the Home of Wisdom facebook page, and follow us on twitter for regular wisdom, insights for enlightened living.
(I’ve also registered a website by that name and am open to collaboration on taking it forward, possibly as a membership site or social network, so let me know if you’re keen.)
Wisdom is growing, but could do with the fertilizer of conscious reawakening! See you on the Wisdom wall then? : )
