The concept and phenomenon we call “ownership” has always seemed rather strange to me.
Take land ownership for example: if the earth is about 4.5 billion years old, and you are – say- 50 years old, how can you truly OWN a piece of the earth?! Let me write that slightly differently to show the absurdity of it: how can something which is 50 years old actually possess something which is 4,500,000,000 years old! That would be like a 1 minute old bacterial cell on your fingernail claiming ownership of you! (more…)
Open your heart to all those around you. By opening your heart to others, you will open your heart to the Divine essence. Your heart contains an intelligence that is profound. It is intimately connected with every other heart. In this sense we are all of one heart. We are One.
Misapprehension of this truth, and coming to believe in our false identities has served to divide us, with this sense of division and separation expressing in untold misery, depression, disease and violence. (more…)
“Money”, like most English words can have many different definitions and interpretations. Indeed, English itself can be an ambiguous language at the best of times, in which meaning most often depends on context and even culture.
Money is no simple subject. It is a vast phenomenon, existing in many different forms and on many different levels, and has proliferated our culture and our minds, making it very difficult to even imagine a world without money. (more…)
Tradition is wholesome, grounding, often rich and very valuable. But it doesn’t serve us optimally when tradition stands in the way of creative originality.
Every religion has it culture and tradition. Even nations, groups and families have their customary ways of celebrating, commemorating and honouring people and experiences in life. There is certainly value in marking events with colour and costume, song and dance, ritual and ceremony. Yet too often I find tradition stands in the way of people applying their creativity to these powerful and beautiful moments in life. (more…)
